Torque-Spring Indicator Atmospheric Consistometer Part No. 800.5938
DESCRIPTION: The Halliburton Atmospheric consistometer is used extensively in oilwell cement testing applications for the following:
- determining water requirements for cements and additives
- determining cement slurry viscosity
- preconditioning cement slurry before fluid-loss, free-water, or rheological testing
- measuringthickening time of slurries for shallow wells having low temperaturesand very low pressure. (If the well pressure is very high, thethickening time measured at atmo-spheric conditions will be longer thanthe actual available thickening time under pressure conditions. Thisunit is not intended to be used in place of theHigh-Temperature/High-Pressure Consistometer because of the stronginfluence of pressure on the thickening time of a cement slurry.)
OPERATION:Slurry containers rotate in a water compartment containing a submergedheat-ing element. Fluid viscosity is measured by the drag caused as theslurry cup rotates around a stationary paddle affixed to theslurry-viscosity indicating-lid of the slurry cup. This drag istransferred to a coil spring in the indicating lid or to a weightedtorque arm, both of which are calibrated to measure Bearden units ofconsistency. This measurement is indicated by a pointer and viscosityscale on the unit. ............
